The corpus edition Sveriges runinskrifter mentions no rune stones from Sevede härad in Småland province. As this paper shows though, there are several early accounts of at least three rune stones in the area that have been lost. The best recorded ones are two stones in Vimmerby church, of which one was depicted by N.M. Mandelgren in 1848. This stone was probably originally a part of an 11th century grave monument. A reconstruction of the runic text shows that the memorial was devoted to a woman and that the Virgin Mary (or possibly Saint Michael) was invoked to aid her soul.
